Naylor, Morasche place first, second at skiercross competition

DAYTON — Alex Naylor, 15, of Dayton, and Blake Morasche, 13, of Walla Walla, members of the snow riders team, the Woo Crew, finished first and second, respectively, in the 13-15 age group for boys skiercross competition last Saturday at the Inland Northwest Series of the Unites States of America Snowboard Association, at Silver Mountain Ski Resort in Kellogg, Idaho.

Skiercross is a freestyle ski racing competition where up to five racers begin at the same time. Racers maneuver through a course of gates, bumps, jumps and banked turns.

Morasche and Naylor race for the Inland Northwest Series of the USASA.

Nick Morgan, a certified USASA coach from Kennewick, coaches the Woo Crew, which includes six racers. The Woo Crew trains at Bluewood.

The next skiercross competition planned for the Woo Crew will be at Timberline Lodge on Mount Hood Feb.20-21.
