MISSION — Nixyaawii crashed the boards and rediscovered its shooting touch here Friday night as the Golden Eagles flew to a 51-31 girls Big Sky Conference basketball victory over South Wasco County.

Suzzette White Owl and Mariah Withers scored 12 points each to lead Nixyaawii, which took a 14-1 season record, 6-0 in the Big Sky’s Eastern Division, into a Saturday night showdown at Western Division-leading Dufur.

Withers also had 16 rebounds as the Golden Eagles controlled the backboards 46-26.

"Rebounding was a big factor," Nixyaawii coach Jeremy Maddern said. "We had also been in a shooting slump and we kind of came out of it, both from the field and from the free-throw line."
