POMEROY — Pomeroy pillaged DeSales’ press for easy transition baskets the entire first half here Saturday. That, coupled with 2-of-29 first-half shooting, doomed the DeSales boys to a 49-29 Southeast B District cross-division dumping at the hands of the Pirates.

"They came out in full court press," Pomeroy coach Brian Koller said. "We handled it well and got some easy baskets. (Justin) Ruark was the recipient of some of those easy baskets from beating the press."

Ruark finished with a game-high 18 points.

DeSales trailed 27-5 at intermission.

"They finally made some shots in the second half. It was a much more even game in the second half," Koller said.

With the win, Pomeroy improves to 6-6 overall. DeSales dropped to 2-9.

Pomeroy plays again Tuesday at Garfield-Palouse.

DeSales next hosts Mac-Hi Tuesday.
