TEKOA — Dayton’s girls were unable to overcome cold shooting here Saturday night in a 53-47 loss to Tekoa-Oakesdale in Southeast B basketball action.

The Bulldogs shot just 28 percent from the field (19-of-68) and made just eight of their 20 tries from the free throw line.

Nicole Lambert led Dayton with 15 points and Katie Varney added 11.

"We got the looks we wanted. We just couldn’t put the ball in the hole," Dayton coach Scott Hudson said. "Our transition game was working well. Our press was working well. We just couldn’t finish.

"If we would have made just 70 percent of our free throws, we would have been in it," Hudson said. "We never quit. They left everything on the court tonight.

"They (the Nighthawks) shot better from the free throw line (11-of-19)," Hudson said. "We are really close. Their coach said, ‘You guys are going to be very dangerous in about four games.’"

The Bulldogs play at Liberty Christian Friday.
