TEKOA — Another Saturday, another Southeast B District overtime victory for the Bulldogs.

Last week, Dayton’s boys defeated Asotin at home in overtime 63-62.

This Saturday, Dayton repeated the feat with a 50-44 overtime takedown of Tekoa-Oakesdale.

The Bulldogs came out slow in the first quarter, quickly falling behind by 10. A late quarter run closed the gap to three at the quarter break. The game was tight with Dayton ahead for much of the remainder of the game until Tekoa-Oakesdale’s Brandon Hovde buried a 3-pointer at the regulation buzzer.

"We had him (Hovde) defended, but he got it up there and it went in," Dayton coach Roy Ramirez said.

Dayton made sure overtime would not come down to a last second basket as they jumped out to a six-point lead that held up at the end of the extra period.

"It was a good team efort. We played defense very well and we blocked out well," Ramirez said.

Dayton was led Garett Turner’s 15 points.

Brandon Hovde led the Nighthawks with 19 points including four 3-point field goals.

Dayton raised its record to 3-9 with the win. Dayton plays again Friday against Liberty Christian in Richland.
