Good citizens, like good parents, understand that an investment in education is an investment in the future. Soon, many College Place School District residents will be receiving their ballot in the mail to vote for a programs and operations levy.
Levies form an essential proportion of school income. The district is committed to continuing to examine our ongoing operations for efficiencies while providing our students the best educational opportunities possible. Examples of some of the programs the levy funds are: art, music, physical education, highly capable program, special education, sports, nursing, technology, transportation and home economics.
This levy is not a new tax, but a continuation of local operating funds for the district. The old levy will expire at the end of December 2010. I encourage each voter to examine the information available regarding the levy by visiting our Web site at cpps.org. Election day is Feb. 9.
Please join me in supporting the upcoming programs and operations levy by voting yes. Our kids are our greatest resource in this country and are worth this commitment.
