COLLEGE PLACE — Walla Walla University shot 48 percent from the floor, 53 percent in the first half, on the way to defeating West Coast Baptist College 77-68 in a men’s basketball game here on Monday.

The win improves the Wolves’ record to 10-15 on the season.

Reserve center Tristan Edwards led the Wolves in scoring with 24 points, and he also gathered in a game-high nine rebounds.

Gerard Dauphin scored 21 points and delivered a game-high five assists WWU.

Danny Galdamez led all scorers with 25 points, and Bro Tyler chipped in 12 points for West Coast Baptist. Cody Mainous and T.J. Tibbs had seven rebounds each for WCBC.

"Our starting center, Ryan Spady, played less than 13 minutes because of foul trouble," WWU coach Gerry Larson said. "Tristan Edwards came in and played 32 minutes. He scored 24 points and had nine rebounds, which was really a solid contribution.

"We just had really nice contributions from the other guys," Larson said. "We got good defensive pressure from Mike Sprenger and Jordan Stimmel. Both guys played really well.

"Gerard Dauphin had another really good game," Larson continued. "West Coast Baptist had a difficult time stopping him."

WWU led 42-32 at the intermission.

"We stretched out a little bit of a lead in the first half, and it never got down below six points or above 12 points," he said. "We beat them earlier in the season in overtime, and we play Southwestern College Thursday. We beat them earlier with a buzzer-beater.

"So we have another exciting game this week," Larson added.

The Wolves return to action Thursday at the College Place gym with the 7 p.m. game against Southwestern College.
