Burbank boys ride defense past Connell

BURBANK — After yielding 21 points in the second quarter alone, Burbank’s defense stiffened in the second half and came away with a 55-50 South Central Conference Eastern Division boys basketball victory over Connell here Friday night.

The Coyotes improved to 4-2 in the division and 9-5 overall while the Eagles slipped to 2-4 and 3-10.

Neal Schuck scored 22 of his game-high 25 points in the second half — 16 of them coming in the fourth quarter — as the Coyotes outscored the Eagles 31-22 after the intermission to erase a 28-15 halftime deficit.
