RICHLAND — Dayton hung with Southern Division-leading Liberty Christian for a half here Friday as the Bulldogs trailed 7-6 after one quarter and 25-22 at intermission.

But the Patriots came out hitting on all cylinders in the second half and routed the Bulldogs 69-47 in the Southeast B District boys basketball game. The Patriots improved to 7-0 in the division going into Saturday night’s cross-division game here against Tekoa-Oakesdale.

Cody Brockman led the Patriots with 20 points.

Sophomores Colton Bickelhaupt and Garrett Turner led the Bulldogs with 17 points each.

"The third quarter was tough," Bulldog coach Roy Ramirez said. "We missed some easy shots, but we had our shots. They are a good team, and you have to take advantage of all the chances you get, and we didn’t. All our guys played hard. We just couldn’t make a basket in the second half."
