ROSALIA — Touchet traveled to Rosalia Saturday night with hopes of stealing an important road victory from the team directly above them in the Class 1B portion of the Southeast District standings. Instead, the Indians got a double dose of the Spartans’ Maley sisters, Briann and Katelyn. The dynamic duo put up a combined 33 of Rosalia’s 53 points, and downed the Indians in Southeast cross-divisional girls basketball play, 53-41.

"We take those two sisters out of their team and it’s a different game," Touchet coach Scott Pumphrey said. "We’d cut the lead to six and then they’d hit some big shots. Everything they put up went in and the big shots we normally get didn’t go in."

Briann Maley led the Spartans with a game high 17-point night. Sister Katelyn was a single marker behind her with 16. Each Maley buried three shots from behind the arc.

Zoe Weaver paced the Indians with 13 points, closely followed by Elizabeth Pedroza’s 12.

Touchet made the trip without 5-foot-10 forward Cheyenne Kessler, who stayed home due to illness.

The loss drops the Indians to fourth place with a 3-4 league and 7-8 overall record.

Touchet next plays Tuesday at Waitsburg-Prescott.
