Dayton girls hold on for 48-40 win over Wa-Hi junior varsity

DAYTON — Dayton rolled to a 16-8 first-quarter lead, fought of a second-quarter surge by the Wa-Hi junior varsity and held on for a 48-40 non-conference girls basketball victory here Tuesday.

Dayton improved to 3-12 overall with the victory.

Wa-Hi’s Allie Greene led all scorers with 15 points, and Torri Crawford scored 11 points and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds for Wa-Hi.

Dayton’s Kayla Dedloff scored a team-high 13 points and led the Bulldogs with seven rebounds.

"We came out strong," Dayton coach Scott Hudson said. "We slacked off a bit in the second quarter.

"The we played really well on defense in the second half when we contended well the 6-foot-3 Crawford in the post.

"Our press and out transition game is finally coming together for us," he added.

Dayton plays Tri-Cities Prep at the Bulldogs’ gym on Friday at 6 p.m., and Dayton hosts St. John-Endicott on Saturday at 5 p.m.
