Pioneer boys no match for La Grande in 73-37 GOL defeat

LA GRANDE — La Grande outscored Mac-Hi’s boys 22-4 in the first quarter and never were tested in a 73-37 Greater Oregon League victory Tuesday night.

"They just jumped all over us and we never recovered," Pioneers coach Nick Ellis said. "They played extremely well and they are very talented. We were flat. They just outplayed us."

The Tigers enjoyed a 45-13 halftime lead, and rode Ryan Tooke’s 20 points, and Brad Townsend’s 17, to the victory.

The Pioneers were paced by Nick Stanford’s 13 points.

Mac-Hi, 6-13 overall and 0-4 in GOL play, travel to Ontario Saturday.
