SPOKANE — Walla Walla reached the free-throw line five times, to 20 for Spokane, in an 88-77 NWAACC East Region men’s basketball loss here on Wednesday.

The Warriors made two of their five tries from the line, and the Sasquatch made 16 of their 20 shots.

The loss gives WWCC a 3-3 record in the East and an 11-5 record overall.

Jason Smith led the Warriors with 21 points. Aaron Corsi scored 13 for WWCC. Emery Henning added 11, and Ryan Andrews added 10.

Andrews also pulled down a team-high nine rebounds and handed out a team-high eight assists.

Spokane’s Griffon Jones led all scorers with 32 points, and he snagged a game-high 10 rebounds.

The Sasquatch gained a 42-34 edge on the boards.

Spokane eked out a 42-41 lead at halftime, and the Warriors tied the score with four minutes to play.

"It was a good game," WWCC coach Jeff Reinland said. "We tied the game with four minutes to play. Then we missed a couple of shots, and they made a couple, and we had to foul down the stretch.

"They’re good," Reinland said. "And we played well. This is the best game we’ve played in league.

"We had trouble getting to the free-throw line," he added. "Five free throws in an NWAACC game is not very many.

"Yet, we had our chances." Reinland said. "We had the shots to win the game in the last four minutes, but they just didn’t go down.

"The kids played hard for the entire game," he said

WWCC returns to action on Saturday with a 6 p.m. start against Big Bend at the Dietrich Dome.
