What: 13th Avenue Improvement Project
Where: The first section extends from Rose Street to north of Abadie Street. The second section resumes on the north side of Mill Creek, near Cherry Street, continuing to the vicinity of Rees Avenue.
Contractor: Apollo, Inc.
Cost: According to Neal Chavre, principal engineer for the City of Walla Walla, the project tapped some federal stimulus money. Chavre said the project bid cost was $1,870,104.48 with an overall project budget of about $2.1 million with about $1.9 million from stimulus dollars.
Timeline: Contracted from mid-late September, estimated completion date is probably no later than September 2010. Chavre said they aren't tearing up any more roadway right now because of winter conditions, and they want to minimize the impact on the public. Utilities are currently being replaced along the roadway.
