MISSION — Kristi Miller scored 15 points and dished out five assists to lead the Nixyaawii Golden Eagles to a Big Sky Conference girls basketball victory over the Ione Cardinals here Friday night, 49-37.

"Miller is averaging about 16-17 points a night," Nixyaawii coach Jeremy Maddern said. "She did a good job of shooting the ball."

Chelsey Minthorn and Suzette White Owl dropped in eight points apiece for the Golden Eagles.

"Ione was collapsing on our posts, Miriah Withers and Kanisha Perry," Maddern said. "So our guards, Miller, White Owl and Minthorn, had some open looks and they knocked them down."

"We had too many turnovers in the first quarter," Maddern said. "Our ball security got better for the rest of the game and that took away their easy transition buckets. Keeping a hold of the ball also helped us to score our average per quarter of double figures."
