Wa-Hi boys basketball wins again versus Hanford 65-52 Saturday night

HANFORD — Senior guard Gary Winston tallied 21 points had a team-high six rebounds and four assists to lead the Wa-Hi boys basketball team to a Cascade Division, Big Nine Conference win here Saturday night, 65-52, over the Hanford Falcons.

Michael Weisner backed up Winston with 12 points for the Blue Devils.

Posts Colton Arias, Matt Watson and Ryan James combined to score 22 points for Wa-Hi.

"We needed that scoring inside to be victorious," Wa-Hi coach John Golden said.

Wa-Hi turned the ball over just eight times and had only six team fouls.

"It was a physical game where not too many fouls were called," Golden said.

The Blue Devils outrebounded the Falcons 33-30 and shot 46 percent from the field.

Wa-Hi outscored Hanford 16-7 in the first quarter.

"We got off to a good start on the road after a big win Friday," Golden said. "And we did what we needed to do to get a win on the road.

"We played consistently tonight within our roles and everyone is contributing," he said. "That is why we have strung together some wins because everyone is playing well."

The Blue Devils are now 15-2 overall and 10-1 in league.

They play again Friday at home against Richland at 7:30 p.m.
