Walla Walla Black Sox 14U sweeps tourney

YAKIMA - Walla Walla's Inland Cellular Black Sox 14-and-under youth baseball team made a clean sweep of its six games played here over the weekend to win the annual CWSA 4th of July Wood Bat Summer Slam tournament.

The Black Sox faced their toughest tests of the tournament against Yakima's Brooklyn Baseball Club, winning by margins of 8-4 and 8-5. In the second meeting between the two teams, Inland Cellular needed a five-run rally in the top of the seventh inning to pull out the victory.

Walla Walla prevailed 8-0 over the Ephrata Basin Barons, 14-0 over West Valley of Yakima, 9-0 over Rathdrum, Idaho, and 14-7 in a second meeting with West Valley.

Black Sox 13U goes 3-2 in Yakima CWSA Wood Bat Classic

YAKIMA - Walla Walla's 13-and-under Black Sox summer baseball team bounced back from a pair of Sunday defeats to win twice Monday and finish with a 3-2 record in tournament play here.

The Black Sox defeated the KBRL All-Stars 9-1 and the Yakima Rebels 10-1 on Monday. On Sunday, they came out on the short end against the Auburn Buzz, 3-2, and against a team from the Tri-Cities, 11-0.
