Walla Walla Public Library director to take new post

WALLA WALLA -- Library Director Martha Van Pelt is leaving her post with the city, with her last day being this week.

Van Pelt, who has been the city's library director for 13 years, has taken a position in Wisconsin and starts there in September.

Her years with the Walla Walla Library saw the expansion of the new children's wing, along with the advancement of technology, creation of new endowments and the retirement of all library debt, according to city officials.

There will be a public reception 2-4 p.m. at the library on Tuesday.
