Sounders U15 first at Crossfire Challenge

REDMOND, Wash. - The Blue Mountain Soccer Club boys U15 Sounders finished first of 10 teams in the Nike Crossfire Challenge U15 silver division here last weekend.

The Sounders defeated Greater Renton FC White, 5-0, and Crossfire Premier B95-B, 3-2, on Saturday.

On Sunday, Washington Rush Swoosh of Everett fell to the Sounders, 11-0. These three preliminary round wins earned the Sounders top seed in the semifinal matches.

On Monday, the Sounders defeated Three Rivers Elite from Tri-Cities, 3-0, and in the championship game, Whatcom FC Rangers Gold was defeated by the Sounders, 2-1.

Goals were scored by Diego Avila (9), Francisco Sanchez (7), Christian Segovia (4), Christian Vega (3), and Cesar Velasquez (1). Other team members participating were Daniel Saucedo, Jake Anady, Fermin Suarez, Abraham Ruiz, Cristian Rivera, Ivan Rivera, Juan Montero, and Luis Reyes.

The Sounders have won all four tournaments they have entered in 2010.

Blue Mountain Soccer hosting 5K fun run Saturday

WALLA WALLA - The Blue Mountain Soccer Club is hosting a 5K Fun Run Saturday.

Registration opens at 7 a.m. and the event begins at 8 a.m.

Water will be available on the course and refreshments will be served at the finish. Leashed dogs and strollers are welcome. Last year, 175 people participated in the event, which is part of the Sweet Onion Festival.

The cost is $6 per person. Event T-shirts are $14 extra. Proceeds benefit the Blue Mountain Soccer Club.
