Walla Walla Native Plant Society slates July hikes


WALLA WALLA -- The Walla Walla Native Plant Society has July hikes slated in the Blue Mountains this month.

This evening, from 5-11 p.m., the field trip is to Lick Creek/ZigZag 3070. Andrea Dobson and Larry North will provide the telescopes.

Plan to hike in the daylight, about four miles round trip. Bring warm clothing for the star viewing, a hiking pole, flashlight, water and dinner.

From 4-9:30 p.m. on July 25, the field trip is to Ruckel Ridge. View mid-summer flowers and then watch the full moon rise at 8:17 p.m. Bring dinner, water, extra clothing and a flashlight.

And from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. on July 31, the field trip is to Jubilee Lake. Bring appropriate clothing, lunch, water, and a bathing suit to swim.

All the hikes meet in Walla Walla at the Whitman College Harper Joy parking lot (near the corner of South Park and Baker Streets).
