Dr. David A. Yam has joined Providence St. Mary Medical Center.
Yam's neurosurgery practice will add to services provided at the hospital's new Spine Center, according to Kathleen Obenland, director of public affairs.
Yam has a background in minimally invasive and complex spinal surgery, brain surgery and peripheral nerve surgery. Minimally invasive surgeries allow for the smallest possible incisions and promote faster recoveries.
The physician received his doctorate at the University of Tennessee Health Science College of Medicine, where he maintained a 4.0 grade point average and earned awards for academic achievement.
After graduation, Yam performed an internship in surgery and completed a residency in neurosurgery at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
