Rebecca R. Hartman, 91 of Walla Walla, died July 18, 2010, at her home on Dalles Military Rd. Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main St, Milton-Freewater, Oregon in charge of cremation services. Contributions can be made to the Walla Walla Community Hospice through the funeral home.
Rebecca was born Feb. 3, 1919, in Dupree, SD. She was the daughter of Hugh Sidney and Alice Henderson Walkup. She moved to Silverton, Ore. with her family where she was raised and then later to Albany, Ore. and graduated from high school. Afterwards she attended college for a year.
In 1940, Rebecca married Douglas Bracher. They lived in Seaside, Ore. for several years. Mr. and Mrs. Bracher later divorced in 1960. She moved to Salem, in 1966 and then in 1968 she married Robert Charles Hartman. He preceded her in death in 1981.
Rebecca worked at U.S. Bank, both in Seaside and at Ladd and Bush Branch in Salem as a secretary. She moved to Walla Walla in 2003 to be near her daughter. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She volunteered at Meals on Wheels in Keizer for many years. She was a member of John Knox Presbyterian Church in Keizer, Ore.
She is survived her daughters, Holly Gould of College Place, and Ada Lomnicky of Anaheim, Calif.; sons, John Bracher of Portland, Ore. and Bob Hartman of Albuquerque, NM; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren three great-great-grandchildren.
