Born November 5, 1918 in Hamburg, Arkansas, Jo has passed away peace-fully, July 19, 2010, at Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla Washington. She was born November 5, 1918 on a farm outside of Hamburg, Arkansas. She is the last of seven children who have preceded her in death. She attended Milo Community School and graduated from Hamburg High School.
She moved to Walla Walla in 1938 where she met and married Benjamin Klundt in 1940. The couple owned and operated several Richfield service stations in the area. They raised two children, Jerry and Margaret Ann. Ben preceded her in death in 1980. She later married Charles Cox, her wonderful dance partner, who preceded her in death in 1993.
For more than 30 years she was proud to be a dental assistant at the Jonathan M. Wainwright Memorial Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Jo has been active in her church, Temple Bethel Baptist, in Milton-Freewater, Oregon. She was an avid bowler and was a part of the McFeeley Tavern Women's Bowling Team. Lately, she had enjoyed bowl- ing on the WII. She was active in the Lady Elks where she played her favorite card game, Pinochle. She was also a member of the Beehive Rebecca Lodge, the DAV Auxiliary, the NFFE, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. Jo was an expert canner and has provided countless jars of jam, tuna, juice, asparagus, peaches and spaghetti sauce that many of us have enjoyed. Other hobbies included sewing, gardening, fishing and dancing.
She is survived by her son, Jerry Klundt, and his com- panion, Susie Gildea; her daughter, Margaret Haase, and her husband, Jack Haase; her grandchildren, Jason and Megan Haase; her very special companion, Bob Boday; as well as many good friends.
