Betty L. Thrasher, 703 Isaacs Ave., Walla Walla, passed away July 21, 2010, at Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla at the age of 81 years. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 24, 2010, at 10 a.m. at the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home in Milton-Freewater, with Pastor Duane Geyer officiating. Friends who wish to pay their respects may call at the funeral home Friday, July 23, 2010, from 7-9 p.m. Concluding services and interment will be in the Milton-Freewater Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Aid Center or the charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home.

Mrs. Thrasher was born March 21, 1929, in Minneapolis, Minn., the daughter of Harvey and Stella Cleem. She was raised and attended grade school in St. Vincent, Minn. She and the other students attended high school across the Red River in Pemina, N.D., graduating in 1947. In 1948, she married Lew Renville and they have two grown children. The couple lived and worked for several years in Ellensburg, Wash. In 1958, they moved to Milton-Freewater and built and operated the bowling alley for10 years. She worked for the Oregon Motor Vehicle Department for 20 years and was office manager in the Milton-Freewater office during her last five years of service. She and Lew were later divorced. In December 1973, she married John Thrasher. They lived at their Isaacs Avenue address until the present time. Mrs. Thrasher was an active partner in the several rentals they acquired. She was active in community activities and had many friends. She had also volunteered at Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla.

Mrs. Thrasher is survived by her husband, John Thrasher, at the home; a daughter, Renee Rice of College Place; a son, Allen Renville of Chico, Calif.; three stepsons, Chuck Thrasher of Baker City, Ore., Tom Thrasher of Bremerton, Wash., and Joe Thrasher of Bevard, N.C.; a brother, Harvey Cleem of Selah, Wash.; and good friend and former husband, Lew Renville.
