College Place, Washington - Major Jack Frederick Stratton, 89, died July 21, 2010, at Eagle Springs Specialty Care Community, 20 SE Larch Avenue, College Place, Washington.

At his request, there will be no service. Memorial con- tributions may be made to
the Humane Society of Sedona or Hospice Compassus of Sedona through Mountain View-Colonial DeWitt, 1551 Dalles Military Road,
Walla Walla, Washington 99362.

Jack was born September 6, 1920, in Spokane, Washington, to Fred E. and Vera Cassidy Stratton. He attended schools in Spokane, graduating from high school and attending college there. He was a Major in the US Army, serving as a navigator. Following his discharge from the military, he received a master's degree in accounting from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. He worked for H R Block for many years. On November 13, 1958, he and Helen "Jean" Spackman married in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. She died June 7, 1997. They lived in Sedona, Arizona for over thirty years. Jack was active in many organizations including the old car club, the camera club, a hiking club and playing the baritone horn in the community band. He was a member of the Church of the Red Rock in Sedona. He moved to the Walla Walla area 2 1?2 years ago.
He is survived by his sister, Dorothy McLean of Walla Walla; two grandchildren: Jessica Stratton and Evan Stratton both of California; three nieces in Spokane and his nephew, Michael and his wife Uva Berry of Walla Walla. He was preceded in death by his brother, Glenn Stratton.
