WALLA WALLA -- An education program through the yearly Shakespeare Uncork'd Walla Walla program got a boost recently thanks to a grant from PacificCorp Foundation.
The $2,500 gift was presented to the group in support of the education program, which brings Shakespeare instruction and performances to local classrooms.
PacificCorp is a utility-endowed foundation and is part of the Pacific Power electricity provider in Washington. The foundation seeks to make charitable investments to support and help grow communities where it operates.
Since 2008, Shakespeare Uncork'd Walla Walla has worked with the Seattle Shakespeare Company to bring professional productions to Walla Walla's Fort Walla Walla amphitheater in the summers. The educational program is a component of the group's efforts and outreach that brings actors with the company to local schools.
The group has in the past worked with high school students, and will expand its education outreach to all seventh-grade students this year.
