Trial date set for man in child pornography case

WALLA WALLA -- A trial date has been set for a man accused of possessing child pornography that officials reportedly found earlier this month.

Thomas E. Nicewaner III, 37, is scheduled for trial Aug. 24 in Walla Walla County Superior Court on six counts of possession of depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

He is charged with possessing six images of child pornography on media cards, cell phones or other items in his possession that police allegedly discovered July 10. Police said he also was in possession of two medications without having a prescription and less than 40 grams of marijuana. He pleaded innocent to the charges Monday afternoon.

Nicewaner was arrested at the Vineyard Inn, 325 E. Main St., where he apparently had been staying. Bail was set at $75,000.
