MOSES LAKE - Walla Walla Black Sox 14U wrapped up its season with a 35-10 record and four tournament titles here Sunday.

They won their final tournament Sunday, defeating Latah County 7-1 on Saturday and 15-5 Sunday, and splitting with the Moses Lake Crawdads, losing 5-4 Saturday but taking the Sunday game, 11-2.

"After a rough game Saturday against Moses Lake, the team came together Sunday and made it a great end-of-the-season showing," said coach Michael Postlewait. "Up and down the line, the guys raked the ball all day."

Every player on the Black Sox's roster had a hit in the 15-5, 14-hit, five-inning Sunday drubbing of Latah County, with Adam Eskil leading the charge with three hits and two RBIs, and Eric Klicker's two hits and three RBIs.

And they avenged the Saturday loss to Moses Lake with an 11-2 victory, including a 17-hit attack, led by Adam Mathews with four hits and three RBIs.

The team has been playing together for two years and has a 66-18 record in that time under Postlewait and coach Kim Cox.

"I speak for both myself and coach Cox when I say it has been a great pleasure to coach these boys for the last two summers," Postlewait said. "They have worked very hard and have seen the results because of it. All of these players represented the Walla Walla Valley with class."

The players will enter high school next year, playing on school and higher-level summer ball teams.

"We wish great success upon this group as they enter high school, and look forward to watching them continue to represent Wa-Hi, DeSales and Touchet during their tenures there," Postlewait said.
