Cheryl Baumgardner
Feb. 4, 1949 - July 24, 2010

Cheryl Linn Baumgardner, 61, passed away on July 24, 2010, after a long battle with Lou Gehrig's Disease.

A gathering for friends will be at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Walla Walla Community Hospice through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA.

Cheryl was born on Feb. 4, 1949, in Walla Walla to Norman and JoAnn Ellison Bannister. She was a longtime resident of Walla Walla, where she worked as a school bus driver for 23 years. Cheryl touched the lives of everyone around her. She was the oldest of eight children. On April 8, 1989, she married Tom Baumgardner in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Family and friends were her life; she especially loved spending time with her niece, Taylor.

Cheryl was the first female truck driver for Jones Scott; she always wanted to be one of the guys. Every morning, she would spend quality time with her mom playing cards and going to stores. Words cannot express how much she will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Schierman; her daughter, Kimmy Bannister; two brothers, Scott Bannister and Johnny Bannister; and one nephew, Kevin Bowers. She is survived by her husband, Tom Baumgardner at the home; her mother, JoAnn Schierman of Walla Walla; four sisters, Trudi Reed of Vancouver, Wash., Cindy Zimmerlia of Montana, Lauri Richardson of Walla Walla and Mary Pearson of San Diego; and one brother, Timmy Bannister.

A special thank you to the College Place School District Employees for their generous contributions and support. She couldn't have done it without the help and support of Lauri Richardson.
