WALLA WALLA -- A man accused of holding his wife at knifepoint and threatening to kill her in April now is scheduled for trial July 7 and 8.

Carl E. Adams Jr., 43, of 1463 Francis Ave., is charged in Walla Walla County Superior Court with first-degree assault, felony harassment and unlawful imprisonment -- domestic violence. His trial previously was scheduled to begin May 24.

Police said Karen Adams told an officer April 6 that she and Carl Adams were in a motor home parked in the driveway at their residence that evening when he threatened her life. He allegedly continued threatening her while rubbing a knife on her body for several hours.

She said Adams wouldn't let her use the bathroom, eat or leave, according to a police report filed in court. Eventually he made her sign over the title of her pickup and he left, officials said.

Authorities were notified and Carl Adams was arrested the following morning when he returned to the residence.
