ArtWALK -- not just for grownups.

Friday marks the day Rachel Philo's art students present their work for Walla Walla's First Friday ArtWALK, 5-8 p.m.

Area students have been painting, drawing and creating ceramics for the show. It was all accomplished at 109 S. Palouse St., home for many years to Carnegie Art Center, Philo said. "Its new function is a place to educate and encourage the young artists in our community."

The class offerings have been met with enthusiam, said Angela Potts, recreation coordinator with the city's Parks and Recreation Department, which facilitates the classes and oversees the Carnegie building.

Philo, a local acrylic artist and sculptor, hopes to make the children's participation in ArtWALK happen every year, she said. "The students have expressed a lot of enthusiasm about this event, and deserve the support of our community, as the freshest perspective representing art in Walla Walla today."
