Shirley Lee Wentland

The older of two children, Shirley was born January
19, 1928, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to John L. and Lola F.
Redfield. The family moved to Milton-Freewater in 1943
from Prineville, Oregon. She graduated from Walla Walla
Valley Academy and attended Walla Walla College. On
August 17, 1947, she and Gean H. Wentland married in
Milton-Freewater, Oregon. He died in January, 1973.
She worked in the laundry at Walla Walla College and
in Central Processing at Walla Walla General Hospital. She
then worked in the business office of Blaze King, a wood-
stove manufacturing business, until retiring for health rea-
sons. She loved taking care of people and visiting family.
She especially enjoyed cooking and baking, particularly
pies of any kind. She was a member of the Blue Mountain
Seventh-day Adventist Church in Athena, Oregon.
Survivors include a daughter, Rhonda Johnson of Port-
land, Oregon; a son, Dennis Wentland of Walla Walla; a
brother, Jack Redfield also of Walla Walla, and a grand-
daughter, Laci Wentland of Portland. In addition to her hus-
band, she was preceded in death by her parents.
