Darrel Bruce Ferguson of Milton-Freewater passed away May 31, 2010, at the Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla at the age of 67 years.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 6, 2010, at 12:30 p.m. at the Stateline Community Church, 85440 Hwy 11, Milton-Freewater with Pastor Owen Frost officiating.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions in memory of Darrel B. Ferguson to the Stateline Community Church in care of the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main, Milton-Freewater, Ore. 97862.
Darrel Bruce Ferguson was born on March 30, 1943, the son of Arthur and Martha (Thornton) Ferguson in Bellingham, Wash. Darrel grew up in Elgin, Oregon and Milton-Freewater, attending church and becoming an Eagle Scout. He graduated from McLoughlin High School in 1961, and attended Eastern Oregon University, graduating in 1965. During the Vietnam War he worked for the Federal Government in St. Louis as a coordinator of helicopter parts for the war. Due to health problems, he retired from the Government at the age of 30 with disability pay. Darrel continued going to church in St. Louis and had a wide range of interest in reading, for which he could talk on several subjects. Darrel enjoyed life and family get togethers.
Survivors include his mother, Martha Studebaker, sister, Jean Petersen and a nephew, Sean Petersen all of Milton-Freewater, Ore. His father preceded him in death.
