WALLA WALLA - The Wheatland Wheelers Cycling Club is sponsoring the fifth annual Ann Weatherill Cycling Classic June 19.

The recreational bike ride commemorates Ann Weatherill, a cyclist struck and killed by an oncoming motorist on highway 124 between Prescott and Waitsburg on Mother's Day 2004.

There are 30, 62 and 100 mile routes, each beginning in Pioneer Park.

The cost is $45. Proceeds will go to the Blue Mountain Foundation's ‘Ann Fund' and the Wheatland Wheelers Cycling Club to promote bicycle safety programs.

Riders can pre-register online at http://www.active.com, searching for "Ann Weatherill Cycling Classic," or at L'Ecole No. 41 Winery in Lowden on the morning of the ride.
