Walla Walla School Board to hold session on budget

WALLA WALLA -- The Walla Walla School Board will hold a public work session Tuesday, prior to its regular board meeting, to discuss the preliminary budget for the 2010-11 school year. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. at the district board room, 364 S. Park St.

The board's regular meeting starts at 7:30 p.m., and will include a decision by the board on what to do with an excess $1.1 million left from the Edison Elementary School project. The board had previously been asked to use the money to cover other district needs, but delayed an earlier decision to allow more public input. The board is also weighing whether to use the money to pay down the district's bond debt.

The board also will:

Consider adopting middle school reading curriculum.

Hear a report from the Community Facilities Task Force

Hear a first reading of a revision to policy 2108 on the district parent involvement.

As part of the consent agenda, consider approval of any new hires or resignations; any out-of-state travel requests; June bills and payroll; and the district's highly capable grant.
