PENDLETON - The Walla Walla Bears came away tournament champions here Sunday.
The Bears won all four games they played, down to the 4-3 championship victory over the Hodgen Distributing Red Bulls Sunday afternoon.
Pitching helped them win, said Bears head coach Blaine Mercado.
"All our pitchers this weekend did a great job," he said. "We played four games in 28 innings, with 27 scoreless innings. It was a great weekend for us."
The independent Bears, ages 17-20, play mostly legion teams and tournaments. The Bears are 7-6 overall.
The Bears head to Kennewick for the Bandit Bash tournament beginning this Thursday.
