Local Audobon Society chapter leads bird, wildflower walks

WAITSBURG -- Blue Mountain Audubon will begin its second annual series of public summer evening bird-watching walks with a 6 p.m. stroll Thursday along the South Fork of Coppei Creek Road.

The excursion, led by members of the Audubon club, will be along a stretch of the road where notable summer birds are especially abundant. The walk is open to novice and expert birders alike. Interested persons are asked to meet for the walk at 6 p.m. at the site.

To get there, travel east of Dixie on State Route 12, turn right onto Lewis Peak Road before the elevator at the top of the hill, turn left in .1 miles onto Walker Road and drive 1.4 miles to the junction of Walker and South Fork Coppei Creek Road. Turn left and park to meet with fellow walkers. Binoculars should be brought if possible. For more information, visit blumtn.org.
