PENDLETON -- The Children's Museum of Eastern Oregon is inviting all dachshund owners to enter their dogs in the fourth annual Wiener Dog Race to benefit the Pendleton nonprofit organization.

This year's event, themed "Snow White and the Seven Dachshunds", will be held 6 p.m. June 25 on the 400 block of Main Street in downtown Pendleton adjacent to the weekly Farmers Market.

In addition to the popular relay race event, dog owners of all breeds can enter the costume contest to win the Best Costume, Funniest, and Best Owner/Dog Look-A-Like categories. This fundraising event also includes many family fun activities, including pony rides, a jump house, a dunk tank, children's carnival games, food and drinks and raffle prizes. The top raffle prize is two free round trip travel vouchers from Seaport Airlines. In addition, copies of the classic children's book "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves" will be given away to 30 lucky winners of a free raffle at the event.

Entry fee for participating wiener dogs is $15 for registration by June 24 and $20 on the day of race. The race is limited to 60 participants. Prize packages will be awarded to the top three racers in addition to the contest winners. Entry forms are available at the museum in Pendleton, online at www.cmeo.org, or by calling 541-276-1066.

This year's grand prize is a first place CMEO Wiener Dog racing silk and free entry to the Northwest Championship Wiener Dog Race, which will be held at the Mt. Angel Oktoberfest 3 p.m. Oct. 19. This televised event attracts racers and spectators from throughout the State of Oregon. The winner of the Northwest Championship will go on to represent the region at the National Dachshund Race.

Through a grant from Travel Pendleton, families and children traveling from out of town this year will be given a free voucher to CMEO for Saturday following the event. Special games and activities are planned for Saturday for a whole weekend of family fun. No purchase or race entry needed. E-mail childrensmuseumed@cmeo.org or call 541-276-1066 to sign up for your free passes.

All proceeds from this event benefit CMEO.
