Ralph and Joan Miller of Walla Walla celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at a party June 12 with family and friends. A family celebration will take place in July when their son Jerry and his wife Sandy will be visiting from Alaska.
Ralph grew up in Nebraska and after high school attended Northwest Nazarene College at Nampa, Idaho. Joan grew up in Nebraska and graduated from high school there. She attended Northwest Nazarene College, where she met Ralph. They married June 11, 1950.
After Ralph's graduation in 1951, the couple moved to Clarkston and then to Lewiston, where Ralph was in the insurance business. In 1963 they moved to Waitsburg and in 1975 settled in Walla Walla.
Ralph became a truck merchant in Walla Walla, serving farmers in the Northwest. He especially enjoyed dealing with farmers. Joan worked with him in the office.
They have attended the Nazarene church for many years, where Joan was active in the Missionary Society and in the library.
They have two sons, Jerry of Kenai, Alaska, and Craig of Walla Walla; one daughter, Deanne Beebe of Vancouver, Wash.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
