Mary Ada Henrie DeLane Carter passed away peacefully Sunday, June 20, 2010, with family beside her.
Mary was born Jan. 18, 1915, to James and Nina Platt Henrie in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She moved to the Pilot Rock, Pendleton area in the late 1930s. She helped on her uncle's ranch in Pilot Rock, and then moved to Pendleton. There she worked at a local cannery and at the Pendleton Woolen Mill. She moved to Walla Walla in 1957. She worked in local canneries and at local nursing homes. She enjoyed reading, word puzzles, fishing and traveling.
Her first love was people. She was Grandma or Granny to almost everyone she met. Her family was everything to her and she will be missed daily and loved always.
She is survived by daughter, Lora Lopez; grandchildren, Mary, Jennioe (Ricardo), Jesse (Lindsey), Felipe (Jenny) and April Lopez, Avelardo Torres, Jose Guerra (Erika), Brenda Saldona, Jacihel Contreres (Tessina), Greg Perez and Veronica Rangel; great-grandchildren, Jollie, Hannah, Anastasia, Daniel, Kaylee, Solomon, Laloni, Aidan, Lili and Prisila; great-great-grandchildren, Alexa and Maritza.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, sister and two grandchildren, Juan Torres and Jorge Peralez.
