MILTON-FREEWATER -- Coordinators for this year's Muddy Frogwater festival are faced with a lack of talent, in spite of a $500 prize to draw out the best in people.

As of Wednesday, event coordinator Julie Culjak said there were no contestants signed up for the festival's first talent show.

To help attract more Muddy Frogwater would-be "Idols," the first-place prize was recently moved up from $100 to $500, and the deadline to sign up has been extended to July 24, she said.

Auditions are Aug. 4-5, with judged performances taking place during the event, which runs the weekend of Aug. 20-23.

Categories include vocal, instrumental, dance and variety.

The entry fee is $5 for solo acts and $10 for group acts.
