COEUR D'ALENE - Walla Walla Black Sox 14U finished 2-2 at the Coeur d'Alene tournament over the weekend.

The Black Sox allowed four seventh-inning runs to drop the tourney opener to Great Falls, 6-4, before downing North Idaho, 14-3, on Saturday.

The Great Falls Amigos again knocked off the Black Sox, 12-9, Sunday morning before Walla Walla smacked 20 hits to take the finale, 9-3, from North Idaho's Norsman Sunday afternoon.

Spencer Locati had a home run in each tournament game - two in Sunday's game against Great Falls - and had 13 RBIs in the four games.

Locati and Ali Buentello had eight hits apiece on the weekend, Joe Duehn and Darryl Galloway had seven each, and Erik Klicker six.

"We played sloppy baseball this weekend, making a lot of mental mistakes, in all four games," Black Sox coach Mike Postlewait said. "Our pitchers left the ball up and we made crucial mistakes to extend innings.

"On a positive note, several of the guys had great showings at the plate - Buentello, Duehn, Galloway, Klicker and Spencer Locati flat-out raked the ball."

Walla Walla scored six sixth-inning runs in the opening victory over North Idaho to secure the game.

On Sunday, the Black Sox scored three first-inning runs to set the tone in the second game against the Norsman.

The Black Sox are now 19-5 and play in Yakima's Fourth of July Wood Bat Tournament beginning Friday.

"The team will learn from this and prepare for the Yakima Wood Bat tournament next weekend," Postlewait said.
