WALLA WALLA -- Applications are being taken for an opening on the Walla Walla County Planning Commission.
In order to balance representation people from county commission District 2 are being sought to fill the vacancy, which has been caused by the recent death of Planning Commissioner Tim Martin.
Information on the boundaries of District 2, which is largely within the city of Walla Walla, can be found on the Walla Walla County Web site. Additional information for applicants, the application form and a questionnaire to be completed as part of the process can also be downloaded from the site.
The seven-member Planning Commission usually meets on the first Wednesday of each month, although other special meetings are held occasionally. Duties consist primarily of conducting public hearings and formulating recommendations to the county commissioners on a variety of land use policy issues and development codes.
A regular term of service on the Planning Commission is four years.
Information is available from the county commissioners' office at 524-2505.
