SPOKANE - DeSales senior Caitlin Duncan drew some attention here last week at the Washington Class 2B girls state basketball tournament even though her Irish didn't make it to Saturday's trophy round in the Spokane Arena.
Duncan was the lone member of the all-tournament team who didn't play on Saturday. The Irish were eliminated on Friday when they lost to Tacoma Baptist 58-40.
Duncan scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in Wednesday's opening-round loss to eventual state champion Colfax 65-48, and she tallied 20 points and snared eight rebounds Thursday in a 50-31 victory over Orcas Island. She finished her tournament with a 22-point game against Tacoma Baptist, which went on to claim the tournament's third-place trophy.
Other members of the all-state tournament team were Colfax's Kayla Johson, who was named the most valuable player, Tacoma Baptist's Melanie Shank, La Salle's Savannah Bonny and Reardon's Kelsey Moos. La Salle placed second in the tournament and Reardon finished fourth.
