Suspect sought in Hampton Inn robbery

WALLA WALLA -- Authorities are looking for a man responsible for robbing the Hampton Inn hotel Saturday night, according to a news release.

The Walla Walla Police Department reports a man walked into the lobby of the hotel at 1531 Kelly Place about 8:30 p.m. The man displayed a black handgun and demanded cash from the clerk. He left with a small amount on money, according to the release. He was last seen walking toward Dalles Military Road.

The Walla Walla County Sheriff's K9 deputy tracked the suspect's path through the Four Seasons RV Park, and to the bike path that runs between the Veterans' Administration grounds and Rancho Villa trailer park, according to the release, but the suspect was not found.

The suspected robber is described as a white man, between 30 and 50 years old, about 5 foot 9 inches tall and of medium build.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call city police detectives at 527-4434.
