A Walla Walla woman was arrested Sunday on suspicion of driving a stolen vehicle and attempting to break into several others, authorities said.

Caitlin May Speich, 19, of 509 Ankeny St. was booked into Walla Walla County Jail on suspicion of first-degree possession of stolen property.

According to a Walla Walla County Sheriff's report, Speich is believed to have driven a vehicle reported stolen in Waitsburg into a field in Prescott. The vehicle caught fire in the 500 block of Struthers Road, and the local fire district was called in to extinguish the blaze, according to the report.

Speich, who was able to escape the car as it burned, is then believed to have found a tractor, started it and driven to a nearby farmhouse, where she was seen attempting to enter vehicles and buildings.

The residents took Speich into their home, where they called the Sheriff's Office and Speich was placed under arrest.
