Kathleen Field Cornett, 92, died Aug. 29, 2009 at her home in Lake Oswego. Kay was born in Blanchard, Mich., May 11, 1917, to William and Harriet Henry Field.

Her mother was widowed early and became a chief dietician for Veterans hospitals in Louisiana and Walla Walla. Kay graduated from high school in Walla Walla and then from the University of Washington, where she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta. She married Thomas Crockett Cornett Jr. in March of 1944. Their son, William, was born in 1945. In 1958, the family moved to Lake Oswego. Kay loved to travel, especially to Maui and Europe. She considered flying on the Concorde to be one of the highlights of her life. She was a member of the Washington Athletic Club, Junior Club of Walla Walla, Walla Walla Country Club, and Oswego Lake Country Club.
She is survived by her son, Bill; husband, Tom, died in 1988. A Requiem Mass was held Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009, in the Parish of St. Mark, Northwest 21st Avenue and Marshall Street, Portland. A reception followed at 827 Berwick Ct., Lake Oswego. Donations to the Oregon Humane Society; Cat Adoption Team of Sherwood; or a favorite charity.
