Walla Walla County will receive nearly $30,000 to provide emergency food and shelter, according to Liz McDevitt of United Way.
The area has qualified for $29,195 through the Federal Emergency Management Administration, through its Emergency Food and Shelter National Board.
The award, which is based on the county's unemployment and poverty statistics, is approximately $4,800 less than last year. Funds will be administered through existing local public and nonprofit organizations.
Any public or private nonprofit agency with interest and capability to provide emergency food and/or shelter services can obtain an application and more information from: Local EFSP Board , P.O. Box 1134 or 29 E. Sumach St., Walla Walla, WA, 99362.
