Robert was the second of three sons born to John Frank and Nora Connolly Hickey on March 18, 1922, in Swissville, Pa. He graduated from Swissville high school. Shortly after graduation, on Dec. 7, 1941, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was a second class gunners mate on short patrol, and then onto the high seas for the European Theater and stationed in England. There he met he most beautiful girl in Glasglow, Scotland, Isabella McCord. They were married Sept. 13, 1945, at Saint Columbus Church in Glasglow. After the war they lived in Dubois, Pa., where they had four daughters, and then in 1952, on to Los Angeles, were they bought a home and had two sets of twins, totaling their family to eight children, six girls and two boys.

Robert was a meat cutter by trade for the next 37 years. He worked six days a week and holidays and put all eight children through private school, he also for 20 years taught C.C.D. religious class to some of the toughest gang members in Los Angeles. His reward was to see these young boys grow up, married, have children, and become providers and have God become a part of their lives. Many of these boys years later sought him out to say "Thank You!"

Daddy touched so many lives in his life time and it was from his heart.

He leaves behind eight children, Isabella #1, Pat #2, Linda #3, Donna #4, Shannelle #5, Russell #6, David #7, Penny #8; 21 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren. Preceded by two brothers and beloved wife, Isabella.
