WALLA WALLA - Whitman College senior Matt Solomon, after knocking off two of the best players in the Northwest Conference last weekend, has been named NWC Student-Athlete of the Week for men's tennis.
Solomon, who plays No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles, ratcheted his game into high gear last Friday with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Pacific Lutheran senior Joel Trudel, the reigning NWC Player of the Year.
Solomon, who netted Player of the Year honors two years ago as a sophomore, took a leave of absence from Whitman last spring to play Division I tennis at Boise State.
